Love is in the Air!

I am so happy to announce that my younger sister is getting married soon.  And I have been very busy planning a bridal shower for her.  I want it to be really nice.  I want it to be a shower she'll always remember and brag about to everyone!  But with baby in tow, I've been having a hard time with running around to Party City, Ikea, Michael's, and making  flowers made out of napkins.  Instead of getting things done for the shower, I end up watching Barney and Elmo or sleeping...(much needed).  Don't get me wrong, I love spending time with baby M.  I just don't think it's wise to drag him around town with me.  I feel it's much better if we just stay home and play which he enjoys.  Anyway, I have about two weeks left til the shower..so wish me all the best!

My list of things to do for sister's bridal shower:
1.  Make flowers made out of paper napkins (about 5)
2.  Buy string lights from Target
3.  Make a program for the shower
4.  Buy peach and brown lanterns from Luna Bazaar
5.  Print pictures  of sister and sister's bf

These are just some of the things I need to do asap...sigh...what we do for LOVE.  My sister totaly deserve all this...She's been a caring and loving sister to me and our brothers.  I am so happy she has found someone to love for the rest of her life.  Yes, this is the goal---for life.  Love for life----

The Five Love Languages

A couple of days ago and J and I attended a Focus on the Family live broadcast on the book by Dr. Gary Chapman's The Five Love Languages.
What are the Five Love Languages?
Quality Time, Words of Affirmation, Gifts, Acts of Service,
and Physical Touch
Dr. Chapman says these are the ways we receive and express love. How many times have you expressed your love to your loved one and still get the cold shoulders? This is because you are assuming what makes them feel loved. There's definitely a miscommunication there. So, it is important that you ask what IS their primary love language? For example, after looking within, I have realized that I feel most loved by my spouse when he compliments my cooking or when he tells me he loves me. So, my primary love language is Words of Affirmation. Now, on his end he told me that he feels most loved when I give him a massage after a long day at work. So, his primary love language is Physical Touch. So, equipped with this knowledge, I do what makes my spouse feel loved and vice versa.
Dr. Chapman says that it is very important that our "Love Tank" is filled. We can do this by asking our loved one questions such as "honey, what can I do to make your life easier today?" We can also ask, "how is your love tank, honey?" Hopefully, the answer is "overflowing." If not, time to fill the tank with whatever your loved one's primary love language is.

I have to say, this concept has already made a difference in our lives. I am overwhelmed at the support and interest J has shown in keeping our marriage strong.
There's something Dr. Gary Chapman said during the broadcast that really stuck out and that is "Everyday we have a choice to LOVE." What is yours???

Glorious Monday

T.G.I.M!!!!
Yes, I said it "Thank God It's Monday!!!!"
Why am i so excited about today being Monday??? Well, I spent my Saturday and Sunday at the hospital working and finally my weekend is here!!! Woot!
I am so glad I will now get some needed sleep!
Then later this evening J and I will be attending a live radio broadcast that will be focusing on married relationships. Gary Chapman who authored the book The Five Languages of Love will be the guest expert. Everyone knows that staying married is a lot of work. It takes effort and dedication to have a successful one. I am very much looking forward to learning about the five languages of love and on finding other ways to keep a marriage well---loving.
You know what else is really cool about this event? It's FREE! How is that for a Glorious Monday!!!

Happy Monday to all!

Monday Glory

Happy Monday Everyone! Yes it's the beginning of another work week and some of us are ecstatic because the Redskins won the football game last night against the Dallas Cowboys! Today, some people, especially my husband will be walking around the office with a smile. And that's how it should be. Mondays can be sometimes tough because it's right after TGIF, FUN FUN FUN Saturdays and Lazy Sundays. Mondays have gotten a bad reputation. The Bangle's song Manic Monday surely doesn't give Mondays justice. So, I will. Let's look at Mondays as a chance to do what we had not done before. A chance to start that exercise routine. Perhaps a chance to start eating healthy. Maybe this is a chance for you to say thank you or I love you to someone or for you to follow through on a new idea. Think of it this way, if you've been singing that song by the bangles, you may just have a crazy Monday but if you think you'll have a glorious Monday then so you will! Monday is a glorious day!!!

Autumn

Autumn is around the corner.  I can tell because there was a chill in the wind that blew outside this morning.  I could smell it.  It's coming.  The memories of  autumn past came running through my mind.  My heart overflowing with emotions.  The past is past as they say. Can't turn back the time.  But  I feel that  if  I  blink my eyes I can "be there".   I can still remember the winding path I use to take to get  to my college classes.  I remember waiting for friends before dinner  right outside the dining hall.  I remember making plans for my future and how imperative it was to not get distracted from them.  I can still remember the plan, yes..."the plan."   I remember the path I took that brought me here.  It wasn't easy and it wasn't clear whether I was taking the right path... The path to love. The path to live in love.
